BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity is honored to receive a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Ann J. & William Swindells Fund after the passing of Mr. Swindells earlier this year.
The Ann & Bill Swindells Charitable Trust was dissolved and its assets transferred to Oregon Community Foundation for future grant making.
To honor the legacy of the Swindells, the Oregon Community Foundation Board chose to make one-time awards to 90 nonprofits who had received support from the Swindells Trust in the past.
“We are delighted to receive the unsolicited funds from the Ann J. & William Swindells Fund. Legacy gifts such as this allows Habitat to continue to build a foundation on which to serve families for generations to come with affordable homeownership. Thank you, Oregon Community Foundation, for believing in our organization and ability to use the funds wisely,” says Robin Cooper Engle, director of development.
Bend-Redmond Habitat thrives on support from our local community and there are times when funders from other communities in our state see the serious need for affordable housing in Central Oregon. The funds will be put to good use helping Habitat build and serve so many who need a stable and affordable place to call home.
Bend-Redmond is funded by local individuals, businesses, faith groups, foundations, grants from The Cities of Bend and Redmond, The State of Oregon, and more. The ReStores in both Bend and Redmond cover 100% of the Bend-Redmond Habitat’s operating expenses.
