Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Application Process and Timeline for NW Cottages (in Bend)
Our Information Sessions are now online and can be completed by watching the 8-minute video on our website: https://bendredmondhabitat.org/habitat-homeownership/ (also available in Spanish)
Normally, this is done once a Client Intake Form is completed and returned, and a soft credit pull is completed by the client. However, since we are in the application cycle, there will not be time for this step of the process. Complete the full housing program application in place of the Client Intake Form.
Note: If you are not qualified at this time, complete and return the Client Intake Form and we will send you an email with a link to complete a soft credit pull and we can schedule a 1:1 (virtual) meeting to help prepare you for general mortgage readiness.
The application process takes our selection committee a couple of months to get through. We meet once a month. The first month/meeting (September) will be to review the underwriting (financially qualified candidates) and the second month (October) to review the home visits and, also to select our 4 applicants for the NW Cottages. If an applicant is not qualified for some reason, they will be notified after September 11th. Those applicants that make it through the home visit, and then if selected, will be notified mid-late October.
Then, once in the program, it takes “partner families” 8-15 months to complete the program. Depending on construction, we hope it is about a year when a person can purchase their Habitat home.
